Job Description:
MeMeraki is India’s first ‘culture-tech’ platform focused on digitizing heritage arts and crafts to empower artisans in the creator economy. They are looking for a data intern (Python) to join their team. The internship requires prior experience with web scraping, and applicants are encouraged to submit their CV and code samples for consideration.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain Python scripts for web scraping to collect data from various online sources.
- Clean, transform, and process scraped data to ensure accuracy and usability.
- Collaborate with team members to understand the data requirements and deliverables.
- Monitor and troubleshoot scraping scripts to handle website structure changes.
- Document the scraping process and maintain clear records of data sources and methods.
- Assist in developing tools and libraries to enhance scraping efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards in web scraping.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in computer science, data science, information technology, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Python, with experience in libraries such as BeautifulSoup, Scrapy, Selenium, or similar.
- Understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for effective website navigation and scraping.
- Experience with APIs and JSON data formats.
- Basic knowledge of data processing and cleaning techniques.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills to report progress and findings effectively.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with database systems like MySQL and MongoDB.
- Knowledge of version control systems, especially Git.
- Understanding of ethical considerations and legal constraints in web scraping.
