Job Summary:
The ACLU of Northern California’s Legal-Policy Department invites law and graduate students to apply for its Gender, Sexuality & Reproductive Justice Internship. This internship offers a rewarding learning experience for students willing to work with intensity and focus.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting with projects to ensure access to services and information for making decisions about intimate relationships and reproduction free from discrimination based on gender and sexual orientation
- Conducting research, drafting materials, and working on various issues within the Gender, Sexuality, and Reproductive Justice Program
- Participating in staff and strategy meetings with coalition partners
- Conducting legal and factual research and analysis
- Helping author reports and draft advocacy materials
- Assisting with legislative or other local campaigns
- Participating in monthly program meetings to discuss litigation and policy strategies
- Opportunity to work across the Department’s six broad program areas when needed
Experience & Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in law school or a graduate program in public health, social work, public policy, or a related field
- Demonstrate a passion for reproductive justice and a commitment to social justice and ACLU ideals
Internship Overview:
- Location: Sacramento, Fresno, San Francisco, or Remote
- Time Commitment: Full- or part-time, minimum of 16 hours per week
- Duration: Semester system: 12-14 weeks; Quarter system: shorter quarter-long internships
- Credit: Must earn academic credit as determined by their institution
