Job Summary:
The ACLU of Northern California’s Legal-Policy Department invites law students to apply for the Immigrants’ Rights Internship. This role involves assisting with projects to protect the civil rights and civil liberties of immigrants, refugees, asylum-seekers, and other Californians under federal, state, and local law.
Responsibilities:
- Participating in staff and strategy meetings with coalition partners
- Assisting in fact-gathering for advocacy efforts through litigation, FOIA and Public Records Act requests, field interviews, and other strategies
- Attending and participating in monthly program meetings to discuss litigation and policy strategies
- Working across the Department’s six broad program areas when needed
Experience & Qualifications:
- Currently attending law school
- Demonstrate a passion for immigrants’ rights and a commitment to social justice and ACLU ideals
Internship Overview:
- Location: Sacramento, Fresno, San Francisco, or Remote
- Time Commitment: Full- or part-time, minimum of 16 hours per week
- Duration: Semester system: 12-14 weeks; Quarter system: shorter quarter-long internships
- Credit: Must earn academic credit as determined by their institution
