Scope:
Responsible for calculations, system design, equipment selections, reports, progress submittals, BIM instructions, and specifications to ensure project completeness and accuracy within allocated time and budget.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Prepare specifications and ensure design meets code requirements.
- Analyze and design structures using computer software, spreadsheets, and hand calculations.
- Calculate costs and time schedules, monitor project design progress.
- Coordinate with other disciplines (architectural, electrical, mechanical).
- Document design decisions, client instructions, and maintain good client relations.
- Review project documents for accuracy, completeness, and suggest improvements.
- Prepare addendum information and respond to contractor RFI’s.
- Identify and address potential project problems, seek advice from Project Manager.
- Conduct periodic job site observations and other contract services as required.
Skills:
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for technical plans and drawings.
- Familiarity with construction materials, methods, and tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CAD software, and BIM.
- Clear oral and written communication skills.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Master’s degree in Structural Engineering preferred.
- Professional Engineer license required.
- Completion of IMEG new engineer mentoring program or minimum three years of qualifying experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds.
- Occasional requirements for driving, kneeling, stooping, crawling, reaching, grasping.
- Limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises.
