Candidates will be shortlisted for Personal Interviews based on valid scores
obtained in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2022/2023/2024.

Application Fee Details:

  • A non-refundable application fee of Rs. 500/- applies only to male applicants belonging to the General (UR), EWS, and OBC categories.
  • Female applicants, SC/ST category applicants, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), Ex-Servicemen, Dependents of Defence Personnel Killed in Action (DODPKIA), and NPCIL employees are exempted from paying the application fee.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants should possess:

i. A BE/B Tech/B Sc (Engineering)/5-year Integrated M Tech degree with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in one of the six engineering disciplines specified below. The degree should be obtained from a University/Deemed University or Institute recognized by AICTE/UGC. The minimum 60% mark should meet the requirements of the respective university ordinances.

ii. A valid GATE-2022, GATE-2023, or GATE-2024 Score in the same engineering discipline as their qualifying degree.

iii. The advertised disciplines and their acceptable counterparts as per the prescribed qualification are as follows:

Candidates with specific qualifying degrees may also apply under related disciplines, but they must qualify based on a valid GATE score in the respective discipline.

iv. Candidates with a 5-year integrated course leading to M.Tech with a minimum of 60% marks in the relevant discipline are eligible to apply, subject to meeting other criteria.

v. Only the mentioned disciplines will be considered, and courses/disciplines with equivalence will not be accepted.

vi. Candidates awaiting final results or appearing for the final year/semester examination in 2024 may also apply, provided they meet all other eligibility criteria. If selected, they must submit their final results by November 30, 2024, indicating completion of the degree with at least 60% marks.

Training:

i. Once selected, you’ll embark on a one-year orientation program held at various Training Facilities.

ii. Depending on the stream you’re assigned to:

  • If you’re in the Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR) Stream, you’ll undergo induction training for a year at one of our Nuclear Training Centres (NTC) located across NPCIL sites.
  • For those in the Light Water Reactor (LWR) Stream, your induction training will take place at the Nuclear Training Centre (NTC) situated at the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KKNPP) Site in Nagercoil, Tamilnadu.

iii. Candidates in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Electronics, and Instrumentation disciplines will have the option to train in either the PHWR or LWR Stream. You’ll need to specify your preference for the ‘Reactor Stream’ during the online application process.

iv. However, if you’re in the Civil discipline, there’s no need to indicate a choice of ‘Reactor Stream’.

v. Please note that NPCIL reserves the right to alter the training stream, venue, or duration as necessary.

Placement:

8.1. Once you complete your training, your journey with NPCIL truly begins. As an Executive Trainee (ET), you could find yourself posted at any Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) establishment, either within India or abroad, depending on the organization’s needs. For those in the Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR) Stream, expect your initial posting to be mainly at PHWR operating stations, ongoing projects, and upcoming ventures nationwide. Similarly, if you’re in the Light Water Reactor (LWR) Stream, you’ll likely start at LWR operating stations, ongoing projects (such as the ones at Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project Site), and future projects across India. Some lucky ETs may even find themselves at the Tarapur Atomic Power Station (TAPS) 1&2 Operating Station in Maharashtra.

8.2. Additionally, some ETs might be assigned to other key functions within NPCIL, such as Research & Development, Design & Engineering, Procurement, Quality Assurance, and more.

Stipend – During Training:

    • You’ll receive a monthly stipend of Rs.55,000/- during your training period.
    • As a one-time allowance, you’ll also receive Rs.18,000/- for books.
    • NPCIL will provide mandatory lodging and boarding in accommodation provided by the organization.

Pay – On Appointment as Scientific Officer/C:

Upon completing your training successfully, you’ll be appointed as a Scientific Officer/C in Group ‘A’, with the following details:

  • Grade Pay: Level 10
  • Pay in the Pay Matrix: Rs. 56,100/-
  • Dearness Allowance (DA): 50% of Pay in the Pay Matrix (as of January 1, 2024)

The DA is based on rates notified by the Government of India from time to time.

Bond:

Selected candidates are required to execute an agreement, a personal indemnity bond for Rs.6,78,000/- (Rupees Six Lakhs Seventy Eight Thousand Only), and a service bond to serve NPCIL for at least three years after successful completion of training. No third-party surety is required. The bond amount comprises 12 months of Stipend (Rs.55,000 x 12) plus One-Time Book Allowance (Rs.18,000/-).

Selection Process:

The selection process will be as follows:

i. Shortlisting of candidates for personal interviews for the posts of Executive Trainee 2024 will be done in the order of merit drawn based on valid GATE 2022, GATE 2023, and GATE 2024 Scores by applying a ratio of 1:12. If there are more than one candidate with the same cut-off mark (while shortlisting for interview), then all the candidates with the same mark will be shortlisted for the interview.

ii. Candidates obtaining valid GATE 2022, GATE 2023, and GATE 2024 scores shall only be eligible for this recruitment exercise in NPCIL under this advertisement. GATE score of 2021 or previous GATE examination shall not be entertained.

iii. Equal weightage will be given to GATE 2022, GATE 2023, and GATE 2024 Scores.

iv. ‘Persons with Benchmark Disabilities’ (PwBDs), will be shortlisted separately by applying a 1:12 ratio in each category of disability for which vacancies are reserved.

v. Discipline and category-wise cut-off shall be displayed on the recruitment web portal of NPCIL. The result of shortlisting for the interview shall be made available to candidates under the ‘Application Status’ link through individual login on www.npcilcareers.co.in.

vi. Intimation of interview date/time/venue will be communicated to shortlisted candidates through Email/SMS. Call letters for appearing for the interview will be made available for shortlisted candidates on the website for downloading.

vii. Final selection will be done based on performance in the Personal Interview subject to medical fitness. No weightage will be given to the GATE Score during the final selection. The qualifying marks for the interview are as follows:

  • Unreserved – 70%
  • EWS/SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/PwBD – 60%

viii. A separate merit list based on interview marks will be prepared for each PwBD category for which vacancies are reserved, and PwBDs will be selected in the order of merit from this list.

ix. The result of the interview shall be made available to the candidates through individual login on the recruitment website of NPCIL www.npcilcareers.co.in. The text of the Offer of appointment will also be made available for downloading to the empanelled candidates on this website under individual login.

x. On receipt of the Offer of Traineeship, Empanelled candidates will be required to submit their Acceptance form whether they want to join NPCIL or not through email within the stipulated date.

xi. In the event of a tie in interview marks, the following criteria will be adopted in sequence for deciding the position in the merit list:

a) In the case of candidates with equal interview marks, the candidate with a higher GATE score will be ranked higher.

b) Wherever both interview marks, as well as GATE scores, are equal, the candidate senior in age will be ranked higher.

Waitlist Preparation and Operation:

i) The waitlist will consist of an equal number of candidates as in the selected main list across different disciplines and categories.

ii) Operation of the waitlist will be disciplined and category-wise, following the order of merit.

iii) The waitlist will be valid until 20th September 2024 only.

Interview Schedule & Venue:

Interviews are tentatively scheduled from 3rd to 15th June 2024. They will be conducted at Anushaktinagar, Mumbai, Maharashtra; Narora Atomic Power Station (NAPS), Uttar Pradesh; Madras Atomic Power Station (MAPS), Tamil Nadu; and Kaiga Generating Station (KGS), Karnataka. Candidates are advised to indicate their preferred venue for the interview in the online application form. However, NPCIL reserves the right to allocate the date/venue for the interview as it deems fit, which will be duly communicated to the candidate. No further requests for changes in this regard will be entertained.

Verification of Original Documents at the Time of Interview:

The following original documents will be verified at the time of the interview. Non-production of original documents will disqualify the candidate from appearing for the interview, and no travel charges will be reimbursed:

a. Proof of Date of Birth (DoB):

  • Xth Standard Passing Certificate indicating Date of Birth OR School Leaving Certificate

b. Qualifications:

  • Mark sheets indicating the date of declaration of results
  • Final Degree Certificate
  • Provisional passing Certificate (if Final Degree Certificate is not issued)
  • Applicants awarded CGPA/GPA/SGPA or letter grades should follow the conversion table provided by the Institute/College/University from where they graduated. A copy of the authenticated conversion table should be produced during the interview. In the absence of a provided conversion table, the following standards will be followed for CGPA conversion:

V. GATE 2022/GATE 2023/GATE 2024 Admit Card and Score Card.

c. Individuals employed in Central/State Government/PSUs/Aided Institutions/Autonomous Bodies must provide a “No Objection Certificate” from their respective organization.

d. Candidates must submit a Gazette Notification or certificate in case of a name change, if applicable.

e. Ex-servicemen should furnish their certificate of service.

f. Applicants claiming to be dependents of Defence Personnel Killed in Action (DODPKIA) must provide supporting documentation.

g. Caste/category Certificates: g.1 SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates must produce caste/category certificates, as per the format prescribed by the Government of India. g.2 The EWS applicants are required to submit an Income and Asset certificate (I&AC) in the format prescribed by the Government of India, from a Competent Authority valid for the year 2024-25. The EWS status as of the date, before the date of interview for this advertisement shall only be considered for availing the reservation benefits, if eligible. The prescribed format can be downloaded from www.npcilcareers.co.in. g.3 The OBC applicants have to indicate their status as “Creamy Layer” or “Non Creamy Layer” as the case may be while filling online application. The applicants who belong to the “Creamy Layer” are not entitled to relaxations & concessions admissible to the OBC Category (Non Creamy Layer). The OBC (Non Creamy Layer) applicants are required to submit the requisite certificate in the prescribed format of the Government of India, from a competent authority issued on or after 01.04.2024. The crucial date for determining the OBC non-creamy layer status will be the date before the date of the interview. Further, OBC applicants, if called for an interview will have to give an undertaking indicating that they belong to the OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) Category at the time of reporting for the interview. g.4 PwBD candidates are required to submit Disability Certificate issued by an authority as prescribed in the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2017. g.5 If the EWS/SC/ST/OBC/PwBD certificate has been issued in a language other than English/Hindi, then the candidates will be required to submit a self-certified translated copy of the same in either English or Hindi.

g. Caste/Category Certificates:

g.1 Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) categories must furnish caste/category certificates in the format specified by the Government of India.

g.2 EWS (Economically Weaker Section) applicants should provide Income and Asset certificates (I&AC) from a Competent Authority, valid for the year 2024-25. The EWS status as of the date before the interview for this advertisement will be considered for reservation benefits, if eligible. The prescribed format is available for download on www.npcilcareers.co.in.

g.3 OBC (Other Backward Class) applicants must specify their status as “Creamy Layer” or “Non-Creamy Layer” while filling out the online application. “Creamy Layer” applicants are not entitled to relaxations and concessions applicable to the OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) Category. Non-Creamy Layer applicants must submit the required certificate in the prescribed format issued by the Government of India, from a competent authority on or after 01.04.2024. The crucial date for determining the OBC non-creamy layer status will be the date before the interview. OBC applicants called for an interview must provide an undertaking indicating their belonging to the OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) Category at the time of interview reporting.

g.4 PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities) candidates need to submit a Disability Certificate issued by the relevant authority as prescribed in the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2017.

g.5 If the EWS/SC/ST/OBC/PwBD certificate is issued in a language other than English/Hindi, candidates must provide a self-certified translated copy in either English or Hindi.

Travelling Allowance (TA) for appearing for an interview:

Outstation candidates attending the interview will be reimbursed to and fro 3rd AC train fare (AC-III-Tier – normal fare, dynamic fare not applicable) by the shortest route from the Railway Station nearest to the correspondence address indicated in the online application to the place of the interview, plus the reservation charges, Superfast Express charges, etc., or actual fare, whichever is less, upon submission of original tickets. For any other mode of travel, reimbursement will be limited to the extent of the 3rd AC Train fare by the shortest route or actual fare, whichever is less, upon submission of original tickets & boarding pass (if applicable). The reimbursement amount for TA will be transferred electronically to the candidates’ bank accounts. Candidates called for the interview will be required to submit their bank account details online.

 Language for Personal Interview:

Candidates appearing for the interview will have the option to answer questions in either Hindi or English.

Medical Fitness:

  • Selected candidates must pass a medical examination conducted by NPCIL’s Authorized Medical Officer to ensure they are medically fit.

Offer of Traineeship:

  • Candidates selected as Executive Trainees will be offered traineeship based on NPCIL’s policy. Upon successful completion of training, they will be appointed as Scientific Officer/C. They will undergo a one-year probation period and will be confirmed in the post upon successful completion of the probationary period.

 How to Apply:

a. Use the registration number provided on the Admit Card for GATE 2022, GATE 2023, and GATE 2024, issued by GATE Authorities, to apply to NPCIL. Ensure accurate entry of the GATE Registration Number and apply for the relevant discipline in the Online Application Form. Requests for correction in the GATE Registration number or Discipline will not be entertained.

b. Eligible applicants must apply through NPCIL’s online registration system. Handwritten or typewritten applications in hard format, delivered in person or by other means, will not be entertained. DO NOT SEND any documents/application form etc. to NPCIL before the interview.

c. Instructions for applying online:

i. Carefully read the eligibility criteria and ensure that all criteria are met before applying.

ii. Verify that you have valid GATE 2022, GATE 2023, and GATE 2024 Scores with qualifying marks applicable in the desired discipline.

iii. Apply through the online application form provided on the website www.npcilcareers.co.in only.

iv. The online application form will be accessible on the website from 10/04/2024 to 30/04/2024.

v. Enter all relevant information such as GATE 2022/GATE 2023/GATE 2024 Registration Number (as mentioned on GATE Admit Card), qualifying degree details, experience details (if any), percentage of marks, email address, mobile number (as mentioned during GATE application), correspondence address, and upload a soft copy of scanned photograph and signature (JPEG) to complete the online application process and obtain the Application number. Hence, applicants are advised to have this information ready before applying online.

vi. Before applying online, ensure that the photograph is scanned in JPEG format, with a size not exceeding 50KB (maximum 480 X 640 Pixels) and a minimum of 10 KB (minimum 180 x 240 pixels), and the signature is scanned in JPEG format with a size not exceeding 20KB (maximum 160 x 560 pixels) and a minimum of 80 x 100 pixels. The photograph uploaded will be printed on the interview call letter, and only applicants with their photograph printed on the call letter will be allowed to appear for the interview if called for.

vii. Provide a valid and active email address, as all important communications will be sent to this email. SMS alerts will also be sent to the provided mobile number. If the mobile number is registered in the TRAI NCPR list (formerly called DND), you will not receive SMS alerts related to registration. If you wish to receive future SMS alerts from NPCIL related to the recruitment of ET-2024, remove your mobile number from the NCPR list through your service provider.

viii. The online registration process consists of the following steps:

Step 1: Furnish information such as GATE 2022, GATE 2023, and GATE 2024 Registration Number as mentioned on the GATE Admit Card, Discipline, Name, Date of Birth, Category, Email, Mobile number, PwBD details, and other exemption details, if applicable. Note that once the application is submitted, no changes can be made to the furnished information. Upon successful completion of this stage, an activation link will be sent to the applicant’s email. Click on the “Apply=>Online Registration” link at the top/left corner of the webpage for registration.

Step 2: Activate the account by clicking on the activation link received through email after completing registration in Step 1.

Step 3: Upon successful activation, log in using the login ID and password to apply online. In this step, fill in all details of your Educational Qualifications, Work Experience, etc.

This is a multi-stage process where you can proceed to the next stage only after entering the required information for the current stage. The sequence of stages is as follows:

  1. Educational Qualification
  2. Post Qualification Work Experience, if any.
  3. Personal Details
  4. Indicate the city of preference for the interview
  5. Indicate choice of ‘Reactor Stream’
  6. Upload Photo & Signature
  7. Submit Application

The links for the above stages are available on the “Apply Online” menu (Apply=>Apply Online). Start by clicking on the “Educational Qualifications” link. Once information is saved, the next stage, i.e., Post Qualification Work Experience, will be made available for filling up the information.

Upon entering all information related to the current stage, you can use the “Save and Proceed to Next Step” option at the bottom of the form, which will save the information entered in the current stage and open the next stage for filling. The next stage can also be opened using the link provided in the “Apply Online” menu (Apply=>Apply Online).

You can save the information at any stage using the “Save and Proceed to Next Step” option.

Once you reach the “Submit Application” stage, a draft of all the information entered will be shown. At this point, you can modify any details entered in earlier stages.

If you are sure that all the information entered is correct, you can submit the application using the “Submit Application” option. Note that once the application is submitted, no changes can be made to the furnished information. After submission of the application, an Application number will be generated for candidates who are exempted from payment of Application fees. Candidates for whom the Application fee is applicable will be redirected to make an online payment once the form is successfully submitted.

Step 4: Payment of Application fee (if Fee is Applicable)

  • Only male candidates belonging to General/EWS/OBC categories are required to make a non-refundable payment of Rs. 500/- towards the application fee with applicable bank charges. The application fee can be paid between 10/04/2024 (from 1000 hrs. onwards) to 30/04/2024 (till 1600 hrs.) only.
  • SC, ST, PwBD, Ex-serviceman, DODPKIA, Female applicants, and employees of NPCIL are exempted from the payment of the Application Fee.
  • Candidates must make the application fee payment through debit card/credit card/net banking/UPI etc. online through the payment gateway integrated with the application form.
  • After submitting the payment fee online, WAIT FOR THE INTIMATION FROM THE SERVER. DO NOT PRESS THE BACK OR REFRESH BUTTON TO AVOID DOUBLE CHARGE. Upon completion of the transaction, candidates should log in again using their credentials and check the status of the payment. In case of payment failure, candidates should repeat the payment process to avoid rejection of the application.
  • Once the payment of the application fee is completed, an Application number will be generated.
  • IT IS SUGGESTED TO CLOSE THE BROWSER WINDOW ONCE YOUR TRANSACTION IS COMPLETE, TO ENSURE THE SECURITY OF YOUR DATA RELATED TO THE TRANSACTION.
  • No other mode of payment will be accepted. The candidature of applicants submitting a fee of a lesser amount or depositing the fee through any other mode other than the prescribed method will be rejected. The application fee paid by ineligible candidates shall be forfeited, and no correspondence shall be entertained in this regard. Application fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. Candidates are therefore requested to verify their eligibility before making payment of the application fee.d. The Online Application Process is complete only after all the above-mentioned applicable steps are completed. Then the applicant can view/print the online application form. e. Application Status can be seen by the candidate by logging in through the “Applicant’s Login” link. f. The candidate is requested to make a note of the login ID and password, as they will need this to log in to the website to check their application status. An email will also be sent to the candidate with the application number. g. The Exact percentage of the marks should be mentioned in the qualification percentage of marks column, and no rounding off of marks should be done e.g., 59.99% should NOT be rounded off to 60%.h. Applicants will be informed through email and SMS (if an active mobile number is provided) about the availability of the ‘Interview Call Letter’ online on the website if shortlisted for the interview. The date, time, and venue of the interview will be provided in the ‘Interview Call Letter’. They can also log in through ‘Applicant’s Login’ and print the same. The applicant must carry a printed ‘Interview Call Letter’ to the interview venue, without which they will not be allowed to appear for the interview.i. Initial screening is primarily based on the information provided in the online application form. It is, therefore, strongly advised that all the details should be carefully and correctly entered into the online application form.j. Applicants are required to keep the scanned signature and photograph ready for uploading at the time of online registration.k. Please note that the ‘Online Application Form’ without a valid signature and photograph will not be accepted.l. Important: Four-Step Process: I. Registration II. Activation III.   1. The shortlisted applicants appearing for the interview should invariably carry with them the following at the time of reporting for the personal interview:
  • Photo identity proof of PAN Card/Driving License/AADHAR Card/Voter ID/College ID/government-issued ID to secure entry for the interview.
  • One clear printout of the Interview Call Letter bearing a photograph of the candidate.
  • One clear printout of the full online application form.
  • One set containing self-attested copies of the certificates in support of educational qualification (both degree certificate and mark sheets), experience, caste/category, proof of date of birth, etc.
  • Originals of all the above-mentioned documents.
  1. General Conditions:

a) Only Indian Nationals above 18 years of age are eligible to apply.

b) Before applying, the applicants should ensure that they fulfil the eligibility criteria.

c) For queries, candidates may refer to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) section.

d) All qualifications should be from a University/Institute recognized by UGC/AICTE or appropriate statutory authority.

e) Applicants appearing in the final year/semester examination should bring their identity card of the Institute/College/University at the time of appearing for the interview.

f) Interested & eligible serving employees of NPCIL, after applying online, are required to take a printout of the online application form and send it through proper channels.

g) An Interview Call Letter will not be generated if the application fee has not been received in NPCIL’s account on or before 30/04/2024 (1600 hrs) for applicants required to pay the application fee.

h) The candidate’s appointment will remain provisional subject to caste/category certificates being verified by appropriate authorities and verification of other testimonials. The candidate’s services will be liable to be terminated forthwith without assigning any reason in case the above verification reveals that their claim for belonging to EWS/SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/PwBD category and other testimonials is found false. NPCIL also reserves its right to take such further action against the candidate as it may deem proper, for the production of such a false caste certificate/testimonials.

i) Category (SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/EWS/PwBD) once filled in the online application form will not be changed, and no benefit of another category will be admissible later on.

j) Original documents (for verification) and self-attested copies as detailed in the advertisement along with a duly signed hard copy of the Online Application are required to be produced at the time of the Personal Interview.

k) The appointment of the candidate in NPCIL is provisional and subject to verification of Character & Antecedents and Special Security Questionnaire by the prescribed authorities. l) If an applicant is not interviewed due to not meeting the eligibility criteria or non-production of the required documents, NOC, etc., or fails to submit a travel ticket/boarding pass, no travelling expenses will be reimbursed.

m) Mere fulfilling the minimum eligibility criteria will not entitle any applicant to be called for an interview/appointment.

n) The email ID and mobile number entered in the online application form should remain active for at least one year. No change in the email ID will be allowed once entered. All future correspondence will be sent via email.

o) In case of any ambiguity/dispute arising on account of interpretation in versions other than English, the English version shall prevail.

p) NPCIL reserves the right to cancel/restrict/enlarge/modify/alter the recruitment process, if the need so arises, without issuing any further notice or assigning any reason thereof.

q) In case of multiple applications against the same GATE Registration number, only the latest application will be considered.

r) In case of any dispute, legal jurisdiction will be Mumbai.

s) If, at any stage of the recruitment process (ET-2024) including post-recruitment or joining, it is found that the applicant: i. has provided wrong information or submitted false documents, ii. has suppressed relevant information, iii. does not meet the eligibility criteria for this recruitment, iv. has resorted to unfair means during the selection process, v. is found guilty of impersonation, or vi. created disturbance affecting the smooth conduct of the interview, She/he will be liable to be disqualified, prosecuted, and debarred for all appointments in NPCIL, and her/his application/appointment will be cancelled/rejected forthwith.
