Role Overview:
As an Engineer Project Associate, you will be responsible for determining project specifications, initiating communication with clients, providing technical assistance, establishing test programs, coordinating laboratory activities, and communicating project status and results to clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Scope and Planning:
- Determine project scope, develop preliminary investigation plans, and determine project specifications.
- Initiate communication with clients to promote and explain services.
- Client Communication and Support:
- Discuss technical issues, explain procedures, and convey project costs.
- Address client concerns and resolve issues.
- Technical Assistance and Compliance:
- Provide technical assistance related to product inspection and follow-up services.
- Review samples for compliance with UL requirements and notify clients of non-compliance.
- Laboratory Coordination:
- Prepare data sheets, schedule, and review work of laboratory technicians.
- Establish completion dates and coordinate administrative aspects of project management.
- Project Management and Reporting:
- Serve as Project Handler and sign as Reviewer of record.
- Communicate project status and results to clients and prepare reports.
- Continuous Improvement and Development:
- Integrate continuous improvement concepts into the job.
- Assist in developing UL requirements and special test methods/equipment.
- Industry Representation:
- Represent UL at industry-related functions such as seminars and trade shows.
- Compliance and Ethics:
- Follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and all security practices.
- Additional Duties:
- Perform other duties as directed.
Qualifications:
- University Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or Physics from an ABET-accredited program.
- Two years of directly related experience.
- Detailed knowledge of technical vocabulary common to the appropriate discipline.
- Basic knowledge of laboratory testing apparatus and techniques.
